Palentine's Party

Palentine’s Party

Seasonal

We know that for many, Valentine’s Day is linked to romantic love, but it can also be a great time to celebrate the meaningful relationships you share with your friends.

This year (13th or 14th Feb) make your day a little less red roses and candlelit dinners, and more about laughter, good company and your chosen family.

Attire and decor wise, you can always play it safe and opt for the classic red and pink theme, complete with cutesy hearts and twinkling fairy lights – this never fails to look amazing and be highly Instagrammable! This year though, we love the idea of choosing a theme with a deeper meaning; why not use the decade you struck up your friendship as your theme?

If you met in the ‘80s, whack on some bright athleisure, decorate in neon colours and incorporate geometric patterns, or if you befriended your besties in the ‘90s, don the double denim and hang up some retro silver streamers.

In the spirit of sharing the love (and food), host a potluck, where everyone brings their favourite homemade dish or treat. Main dishes like pizzas or savoury pastries can be easily created in heart shaped designs, and chocolate-covered strawberries and red velvet cupcakes add a sweet touch too.

Host a movie marathon where each guest chooses a film to watch, rom-com or otherwise, and consider creating a photo booth corner to capture the event, complete with love themed props; red lips, pink wigs, glitter and love hearts will all work a treat.

Plan some palentine’s party games that get everyone involved. Our favourite ideas include a twist on playing the traditional Mr & Mrs game; team up into partners and see who knows the most about each other. Alternatively, if you’re lucky enough to have a big group of pals, design a friendship trivia quiz and see who knows the most about each other – the person with the most points at the end wins!

End your event on a high by taking a moment to toast to your friendship, share compliments and exchange your funniest memories with each other. Before everyone leaves, have each person say one thing they appreciate about the person next to them – it’s a cheesy but heartwarming way to fill your friend with confidence. The love between friends can be as strong as any romantic love, so gather your group and plan an amazing night that celebrates friendship and fun.
