CO-OP LIVE, MANCHESTER

Inspiration, Venue Guide

We visited Co-op Live, the Manchester venue that’s putting music first.

The UK’s largest live entertainment arena finally seems to have found their groove.

The legendary Stevie Nicks performed at the utilitarian ‘black box’ arena last month, and we were lucky enough to be invited. Sitting in the AMP Club, on the mezzanine level of the arena, you can enjoy a live music show in premium comfort with little luxuries that certainly make the usual gig experience more enjoyable.

Away from the whirlwind of the main arena, the AMP Club ticks away smoothly upstairs, offering access pre and post show to the Atrium Club, which has exclusive drink and dining options. What’s more, AMP members can also arrive an hour before general admission via a private VIP entrance to enjoy this special area, before taking to their premium seats with memory making views.

Thanks to the Co-op Live’s innovative sound bowl design, there’s exceptional acoustics, meaning everyone can have the best experience, no matter if you’re standing or seated. A significantly low ceiling and tiered seats, together with cutting edge visuals and compact seating for optimal sight-lines, brings visitors closer than ever to the artist, for an intimate and immersive experience. And that’s a fact. Populous, the architects behind the venue, have designed the arena so that fans can be up to 23m closer to the artist than in any other comparable location – and in an arena that can hold 23,500 spectators, that’s no small feat. To keep you fed and watered are bespoke bars, restaurants, markets and lounges, including two island bars and an indoor food market known as the ‘heartbeat’ of the building.

But, if you’re looking to make your visit truly remarkable, booking a unique club experience is no mistake. Be treated like a VIP at The Decibel Club, a contemporary nightclub space with electric energy and swish style. The premium Ciroc Lounge is a satellite bar complete with dancefloor, private seating and a terrace with amazing views of the stage. Located next to the artist green room and with a jazz club atmosphere is The Bentley Record Room, with high-end eating options, private waiter service and a VIP entrance.

The Co-op Backstage Club, a large and grungy bar, with dance floor and open kitchen, is available as an upgrade for all ticket holders.
