Don’t Say Baby!

Little Ones

Inside Jemma’s magical baby shower celebration…

On a Sunday afternoon in late March, Jemma enjoyed her whimsical baby shower at Suburban Green in Wilmslow, alongside 26 guests.

Planned by Jemma’s mum and sister, Dee and Sophie, the room was transformed with soft cream, gold and white balloons, which floated above tables, and mini vases filled with baby’s breath were scattered around the venue. A show- stopping centrepiece came in the form of a baby ‘cake’ which was crafted from nappies, muslin cloths, and a rattle – a charming addition to the party decor.

Generous platters of Suburban Green’s food were served, and family friend Sylvia Midgelow whipped up a batch of cupcakes that were as beautiful as they were delicious. There was a constant flow of prosecco for the guests, and Nosecco for the glowing mum-to-be.

A game of ‘Don’t Say Baby’ brought out everyone’s competitive side. With mini pegs clipped to each guest, the challenge was simple – don’t say the word baby. Slip up and the person hearing you confiscates your peg. The guest at the end with the most pegs wins.

“I think I was the first out! Try not saying the word baby at a BABY shower – not easy!” – Jemma

Another standout moment? A DIY baby grow station. Guests sat down to personalise tiny onesies with adorable designs, quirky messages, and heartfelt doodles. Each one is now a keepsake for the parents-to- be and their little one.

With just a few weeks to go until their bundle of joy arrives (on what could be Jemma’s mum’s 70th birthday), Jemma shares her thoughts on becoming a mum.

“We can’t wait to meet our little baba,” Jemma says, “although we’re feeling a little nervous too as first time parents. I’m sure with the help of our nearest and dearest we’ll be just fine!”

As for whether they’re having a boy or a girl? They’re keeping that as a surprise, one of life’s most magical ones.

“It was an afternoon filled with love. We’re so lucky to have such wonderful friends and family around us,” smiles Jemma.
