Anaesthetic doctor and aesthetics clinic owner Ed married flight attendant Nick in a ceremony close to home earlier this year.
A chance meeting at the Hale Country Club after the last COVID-19 lockdown a few years ago brought the couple together. They have been inseparable ever since. “Our relationship has been a magical journey,” Nick smiles, “we just bounce off each other and Ed is so caring and funny. He’s a really special guy and I am very lucky and blessed.”
Throughout the course of their 3-year relationship, the pair have travelled the world and started a business together, so it was no surprise marriage might be next on the cards.
“I proposed to Nick on the gorgeous Greek island of Kefalonia whilst on a family holiday,” says Ed. “He’d booked a private dining area for just the two of us which was carved into the side of a cliff overlooking the water – it was so perfect,” remembers Nick.
“I had no idea it was coming though. We were waiting for dessert, sipping cocktails and having a dance in the sunset when he just dropped down on one knee! It was the best moment of my life. He did so well…especially keeping it a secret.”
Their wedding day was held at Sale Town Hall and was planned by the boys themselves, who have experience with hosting events and thinking of the finer details. “Our friend did make some beautiful favour bags for us though,” Ed says, “they were a total superstar.”
The ceremonial room of the Town Hall was decorated elegantly with simple white flowers, foliage and candles, and afterwards, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed an intimate reception at The Dalton Room inside The Ivy Manchester, a venue the couple both love for its familiarity and great service.
“As I work in the service industry it was important for me to have everything running smoothly on the day,” explains Nick, “the team there was outstanding and I can’t thank James Garnett-Clarke enough for looking after us.”
“We’re so grateful that we got to have the relaxed wedding day we always wanted with our loved ones,” he continues, “it was important to us that everyone was super relaxed and happy. Everyone who was there played their own part in our special day, whether it was a speech, being a witness or helping to create a beautiful space.”
But the most memorable part? Hearing the registrar announce that they were married. “I looked into Ed’s eyes in that moment and knew we would share each other’s love forever.”
