34-year-old recruitment business owner Jonny wed Millie, who turned 30 just after the wedding, in a summertime Spanish ceremony.

“We first met in our local village through a mutual friend who was actually Jonny’s best man,” says Millie.

And the rest as they say is history. The couple enjoyed a long 10-year relationship, but after a decade of dating, Millie had given up all hope of a proposal.

“After 10 years and no proposal, I kinda gave up on the idea,” Millie smiles, “but then we went for a walk in the Peak District and that all changed!”

Jonny proposed at the top of Mam Tor, and it’s safe to say it was unexpected.

“I actually thought it was a wind up, I was in so much genuine shock,” Millie laughs.

The pair, who have always loved city breaks, and Barcelona in particular, fell in love with the first venue so much that they didn’t end up bothering to view the two others they had lined up.

The relaxed but glam wedding day took place on Jonny and Millie’s 11 year wedding anniversary, but the weather wasn’t on their side…

“It was typical we chose to go to Spain for a warm wedding, but the morning of the wedding was a thunderstorm and monsoon,” Millie remembers, “it was awful, all the tables had to be reset, and my aisle walkway certainly wasn’t white anymore! We were getting married in the forest, and the venue kept asking us to move the ceremony inside, but we refused. It wasn’t what we wanted, we’d travelled to Spain for our dream outdoor wedding after all – and we’re from Stockport so we’re used to the rain!”

Luckily, the bride and groom found a short window to marry, and despite the rain that followed, the drenched newlyweds and their guests tucked into Mexican tapas, before dancing the night away to a DJ and their MC Cole.

The following day, the couple celebrated again with their loved ones, partying to a four piece band – ROAMEO music.

“My favourite part of the day was walking into the dinner after the photos. I loved walking down the aisle in my dress which my friend Hannah Charlotte Bespoke made, with my dad, and meeting Jonny and our son Cooper at the end,” says Millie.

“It was everything and more. To have all our favourite people in an amazing country to celebrate with us – it was just a feeling I can’t explain!”
