Tucked away just off the Hale Four Seasons roundabout is a Cheshire branch of San Carlo, San Carlo Fiorentina.

San Carlo’s in the North West have arguably become the highest profile and busiest restaurants outside of London, and Hale is no different.

Photos of celebrity and sporting star guests line the walls of the entrance, leading through to a modern bar area, complete with marble, gold and glass. A wood panelled room plays host to the restaurant, where the menu is packed with Italian classics.

There’s so many sumptuous sounding starters it’s really hard to choose. There’s cheese, fish and lots of veggie bits; we can think of worse problems to have! Barbecue ribs in San Carlo’s special sauce are great for lovers of meat, and we recommend mozzarella in carrozza; fried breaded mozzarella in a basil and tomato sauce, for non-meat eaters.

Upon recommendation of charismatic Assistant GM Luigi, Patate Arrosto; potatoes sautéed with onions and bacon, accompanied our main dishes. Pan-fried chicken breast with white wine, mushrooms, cream and asparagus, plus Caserecce all’Anatra; short pasta topped with slow cooked duck ragu. There were crispy fried courgette fries, piled high of course, on our table too. Looking to share on date night? Try their Gran Pasta; Risotto Cacio e Pepe with Truffle, served at the table in a Parmesan wheel.

There’s been over 30 years of San Carlo so far – here’s to many more!
