Inspiration

Nutrient-rich recipes designed to transform your hair, nails and skin, for beauty from within.

Once confined to serums, creams and the occasional face mask, beauty is no longer just skin deep. A surge in online searches for ‘best foods for skin’ suggests that what we eat is becoming just as important as what we apply. Below, our top recipes showcase foods that genuinely make a difference and are well worth the hype.

Vanilla Porridge with Chia Seeds, Banana & Blueberries | GREAT FOR HAIR

You’ll need: 50g porridge oats + 250ml oat milk + 1 tsp chia seeds + 1 tsp vanilla extract + 1 banana, sliced + blueberries, handful

Method: Add oats and milk to a pan and cook over medium heat for 3-5 minutes, stirring until thick and creamy.  Stir in the vanilla extract and chia seeds. Cook for another minute so the chia seeds start to soften. Pour into a bowl and top with sliced banana and blueberries and a sprinkle of more chia seeds

Tomato, Red Pepper & Watermelon Gazpacho | GREAT FOR SKIN

You’ll need: 3 ripe large tomatoes + 1 red pepper + ½ small watermelon + ½ cucumber + 1 small garlic clove + 2 tbsp olive oil + 1 tbsp lemon juice + basil, for garnish

Method: Remove seeds from the watermelon and cut into small cubes. Chop pepper and tomatoes into small pieces and add with the other ingredients into a blender. Blitz until smooth. Pour into bowls and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving. To serve, top with finely diced cucumber and basil leaves.

Lentil Bowl with King Prawns & Egg | GREAT FOR NAILS

You’ll need: 150g green lentils + 200g king prawns + 2 large eggs + ½ lemon, juiced + 1 tbsp olive oil + salt and black pepper + parsley, for garnish.

Method: Put the lentils in a sieve and rinse under cold water to remove any dust.  Add to a pan with plenty of cold water. Bring to the boil, then reduce to a gentle simmer for 20 minutes. Drain and set aside, adding a pinch of salt and black pepper. Boil eggs for 10 minutes, before adding to cold water. Then peel and cut in half. While the eggs boil, pan-fry the prawns in a little olive oil for 2-3 minutes
per side until pink and cooked through. Assemble the bowl by using the lentils as a base layer. Then add the prawns and halved eggs on top. Finish with a drizzle with olive oil, lemon juice and a sprinkle of parsley.
