The Ultimate Baby Safety Event

Seasonal

If you’re an expectant parent, caregiver to children, or even a new grandparent-to-be, there’s no doubt you’ll be keen to share and learn hints and tips that ensure the safety of your little ones. Well, September is Baby Safety Month, so there’s no better time to gather a group of likeminded people together.

From nervous first-timers and friends who are there to support, to older family members just wanting a little refresher, here’s how to throw an important baby safety event which is informative and educational yet still entertaining and engaging.

Picking The Perfect Spot

If it’s an intimate group of family or friends, host at home in a relaxed environment. If your sights are set on bigger things, such as throwing a local event, then opt for a park or community centre. Wherever you are, create a corner for the kids – they are welcome too! Encourage them to play with toys, building blocks and puppets whilst the grownups are learning.

Keep It Comfortable

Make sure there are cosy spots around the room for guests to relax, chat and share stories and advice, and of course, babies or children may also need places to snooze! Guests who are mums to young babies, and who are choosing to breastfeed, will need a relaxing place to nurse.

A Jam-Packed Agenda

Show demonstrations on car seat installation, infant CPR, baby proofing the home, and safe sleep practices. Contact your local child safety expert, whether that be from a health centre or nursery, or even a paediatrician, to see if they can speak at the event. Being able to offer your guests valuable insights and expertise from professionals will be a big bonus. Set up workshops or activity stations around the room, which provide a hands-on approach to the things shown in the demonstrations. Buy or borrow a second-hand car seat so guests can practise their skills. CPR dolls can be bought for a reasonable price too, so you can try your hand at infant massage, choking techniques and much more.

So, get planning a lighthearted yet impactful event where your guests can leave feeling confident in the knowledge they have all the tools to keep the next generation safe and sound.
